Richard St John Harris, was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1930 and died in 2002 of Hodgkin's disease after a long career in theatre, film and even as a pop star with the hit song "MacArthur Park"! Some of his more notable film appearances were in Mutiny on the Bounty (1962), This Sporting Life (1963), Camelot (1967), A Man Called Horse (1970), The Field (1990), Gladiator (2000), and he played Hogwarts' Headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter movies -- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets (2002).
